Many women suffer from domestic violence though most of them refrain from admitting it. The term ‘Domestic Violence’ does not only comprise of the physical abuse inflicted upon her by her husband but also the verbal and mental abuse put through.
These factors if not dealt with on time can turn quite ugly. At times an abusive husband may even harm the kids in order to hurt you.This sort of abuse instills fear in woman as her husband’s mood would be unpredictable. It could even culminate into depression and low self-esteem. It may lead to eating disorder. Some even accept it all as being normal. In extremely serious situations this may force her to commit suicide.
How do you deal with an abusive husband? Often your husband may blame you as being the cause of this behavior-“Trust yourself”. You are not mad and you don’t have to bear all this. Speak to your husband about his behavior. Tell him about the limits in an argument. If he is willing to seek help you could even visit a counselor.
Speak to your near and dear ones like your family and friends. They could probably help you out if the matter gets out of your hands. In case, if there is no improvement in your husband even after the counseling its best you leave. Nothing is more important than your safety. You could probably approach the counselors and seek help yourself. Walk away if the argument gets on the verge of physical abuse.
Often women accept all these abuses in silence just because of the good times you’ve spent with that person or the positive aspect of him that you had once seen. But know that it is not an option for you to be used. This is an ailment where only your help can help cure him. Lastly, if you are planning to leave your husband you could probably make a note of these incidents. You could also have in place a backup plan for you just in case you have to leave right away. Keep aside some money and also save some helpline numbers on your cell in case of an emergency.
