Alcohol and Muscles

Men often wonder if there drinking habits could effect there muscle building Endeavor badly. Somehow it’s hard for alcohol lovers to leave it completely. Well, to be honest alcohol can act as a big restraint and may keep you from developing and maintaining your body muscle.

Testosterone is one of the hormones which are required for muscle growth. The difference in the Testosterone level in men and women is the reason why men can gain so much muscle while women can’t.  Men have more levels of Testosterone than women. However, consumption of alcohol acts as a restraint and tends to lower the amount of testosterone in the body.

Alcohol consumption also affects the growth hormone in a bad way. Growth hormone is required by the body to build muscles, they increase cell and bone development. Unfortunately, consumption of alcohol leads to bad levels of these hormones. This happens because this hormone only generates during the sleeping hours but alcohol upsets the sleep.

Alcohol is known to dehydrate the body. It can only have ‘no’ effects if you make sure you keep drinking a lot of water and do not let the catalyst dry you up. Dehydration is known to cause fatigue and problems in being active. Dehydration also makes the body craves for more food, making a person over eat.

Alcohol is known to decrease your performance level and stamina. You might not be able to work out as vigorously as you may usually do and low performance in the gym means bad results. Hence refraining, you from a good body.

Everyone has heard of a beer belly. Well, alcohol contains tons of calories, leading to weight gain. If you drink alcohol and still want to watch your calorie intake then the best you can do is to decrease your food intake. However, less of food will lead to low energy level, which will further decrease your strength. Hence, this is a vicious circle, which never ends.
