Allergies

An allergy is a hyper sensitive state that a victim acquires. It is not always a threat to life but can be very annoying and hamper your daily work. You feel tired all the time and are unable to sleep at night, your productivity starts getting affected and sometimes there is breathlessness which can lead to asthma.

There are more than 100 types of allergies. Some of them you get by inhaling, like- fungus, pollens, dust, smoke, weed grass, cockroach droppings etc. Some allergies are by touch, like- cosmetics, detergents, artificial jewelry, chlorine etc. Also, there are some which we get due to eating certain foods, like- wheat, dairy products, pain killers, mushrooms, eggs, fish, bringal, rice sauces, preservatives etc.

The symptoms of allergy can be mistaken for flu but the dissimilarity lies in the fact that allergy gives no fever and the itching may last for weeks whereas in flu you have fever without itching which lasts for seven to ten days. Here are some tips to avoid these allergies:

If you are allergic to fragrance like- perfume, soaps, detergents, perfumed candles, then try to use non scented products. Also, ask your colleagues to go easy on there perfumes or use light scents. You can also use body creams with light smell. This will cause less irritation.

Another cause of allergy is dust mites which can be found in- pillows, matrices, carpets and even stuffed toys. Remove wall to wall carpets and use small rugs which are easy to wash with water and soap. If possible keep all these things in the sun for three to four hours every three months. You will be surprised to find your matrices and pillows fresh and light.

If you are allergic to fresh paint, try to allow fresh air to circulate at least four weeks. Try using latex paint. It omits less gas than oil based paints. Avoid going out at dawn or dusk if you are allergic to plants and avoid going to the area where these plants grow.
