Are Western Diets Causing Strokes?

The east is aping the west not only in its lifestyle but also it eating habits and practices. But is it correct to do so. The western diet that has very much mingled with our kind of lifestyle consists of food that is processed and contain large amount of preservatives. Such food comprise mainly of carbohydrates in refined form, carbonated drinks and beverages, fried food, snacks, red meat that are leading to numerous cardiovascular diseases.

In fact a study also appeared in this regard in the “Journal of the American Heart Association”. The article laid stress in consuming more legumes, fresh fruits and vegetables and whole grains. These protect from strokes and other heart ailments. Unhealthy food effect the metabolic syndrome gets affected which causes stroke.

Apart from this cancer, diabetes and other major ailments also attributes with such kind of food. The metabolic syndrome can raise the blood pressure, alter glucose level, increase blood triglycerides and lower the good HDL cholesterol. With dietary modification this condition can be arrested.

Dietary controls:-
Avoid saturated and Trans fats. Food like hamburgers, meat that is processed, fried stuffs and confectionaries change the metabolic syndrome. With balance in blood pressure the chances of diabetes is reduced and similarly with obesity the chances of strokes increases.

In such condition, try to loose unwanted weight. Exercising and maintaining a healthy lifestyle is suggested. Try to control the intake of fatty stuff and less meat. Meat if consumed should be lean meat. One can consume dairy but see that it is low fat one. Dairy is important one cannot altogether avoid it.

A Mediterranean diet along with fresh fruits, vegetables grains, nuts, fish is best. Such diet helps in regulation of blood pressure, weight, balance and functioning of the body.

A well balanced diet is the mantra for healthy living. For good health, try to eat sensibly.
