Poly cystic ovarian syndrome (PCOS) is one of the most common causes of infertility in women. It is also known to cause menstrual disorders and hormonal imbalance.

No single test can diagnose PCOS. A pelvic examination is done to determine if your ovaries are enlarged or swollen. Vaginal ultrasound is done to examine other abnormalities. Series of blood test is done to check hormone and sugar levels.
The treatment depends on the age and requirement of the women. The most common method is- glucophage, which is a drug that helps to regulate insulin levels, in turn also regulating our hormones to help you ovulate. For women who are not concerned with fertility but control pills is a great option. They help in cycle regulation and also improve abnormal hair growth. The insulin-sensitizing agents also help in controlling the symptoms of PCOS, and improving the menstrual problems.
Sometimes surgery is required in severe cases. Medicines can have side effects and many people opt for herbal method, balanced diets with lots of exercise.
