AvocadoAvocado fruit belongs to the Persea genus and Lauraeae family. It is a delicious and nutrient-packed fruit that has many health benefits. It contains very high amount of protein and is mainly recommended fruit for cholesterol related heart diseases. Some health benefits of avocado are mentioned below.

Avocado is loaded with several vital nutrients such as potassium, Vitamin A, C, and E, folic acid, B-complex, calcium, iron, magnesium, phosphorus and copper. They have a very high, next only to the olive, content of monounsaturated fatty acids. Avocados are low in sugar and starch and are a rich source of fiber. Hence they are regarded as an ideal fruit for the diabetics. The monounsaturated fats help in controlling the metabolic rate and reduce overeating.

Avocados contain oleic acid, a monounsaturated fat, which not only reduces bad cholesterol but also increases good cholesterol. If consumed regularly they lower your blood pressure because of its high potassium content. Avocados are rich source of folate which is a vital nutrient for your heart’s health. In studies conducted it was found that women who consumed high amount of folic acids experienced 55% lesser risk of heart attack and critical heart disease.

Avocados are the powerhouse of Vitamin E. This vitamin is considered as a beauty vitamin because it is essential for healthy skin and wrinkles prevention. It maintains your overall health and provides protection against many diseases. Avocados help in better absorption of certain nutrients when they are eaten along other foods.

High Blood Pressure

Researches have shown that avocados prevent breast, oral, and prostrate cancer. Certain phytonutrients in avocados prevent the growth of prostrate cancer cells. A toxin is present in avocados which kills the cancerous cells and has good effect on the muscle tissues of your heart. Just like olive oil, avocados too are high in oleic acid. In studies conducted oleic acid has been found to prevent breast cancer. Avocado fights against cancer by causing free radicals to attack the cancer cells without affecting the healthy cells.

Dry Skin

If you eat avocado regularly, your immune system will be strengthened. Avocado also reduces the risk of kidney stone development, prevents you from glaucoma, cataracts and astigmatism; reduces the risk of stroke and high blood pressure; is effective in ulcers treatment, and skin disorders like dry skin and psoriasis. It is beneficial for healthy fetal development and also soothes nausea and upset stomach during pregnancy.
