Being Healthy After Menopause

Menopause is a natural process which generally occurs in women above 40. During menopause you may experience hot flashes, anxiety, vaginal dryness, facial hair, insomnia, depression etc. These are some symptoms of menopause. Osteoporosis is one of the major problems which can be caused after menopause. However, with proper care you can remain healthy after menopause. After menopause most women suffer from hormonal imbalance which leads to many health problems. But exercise can keep the hormones in balance and also maintain proper blood circulation. Therefore to stay healthy after menopause you must exercise daily for 20-30 minutes. Walking is one of the best physical activities which you can do with ease. Walking will give you several other health benefits also such as you will lose weight; your muscles and bones will become strong and it will prevent you from falling prey to Osteoporosis.

Water is one of the most important liquids. You should drink more than 8-10 glasses of water a day to keep yourself healthy. Apart from keeping you hydrated, water maintains proper blood circulation and eliminates toxins from your body. It also improves your digestion and gives you relief from constipation. Hair fall after menopause increases, so to prevent hair fall, you will have to drink plenty of water.

You must eat balanced diet to remain healthy after 40. Avoid spicy, oily and junk foods. Eat fresh fruits which are rich in Vitamin C, A, E etc. Mix lemon juice and honey in a glass of water and a pinch of salt (don’t include salt if you have high blood pressure) and drink it daily in the morning. It will protect you from various diseases such as heartburn, acidity, hypertension, headaches, hair loss etc. Your skin will glow and you will look years younger.

Avoid fried foods and include green vegetables in your diet. Spinach, cabbage, tomato, beans, broccoli, avocado are wonderful foods. These foods have the power to protect you from serious diseases. Hence eat these foods regularly or alternatively. Also expose your body in the morning for 15 minutes to sunlight so that you get sufficient amount of Vitamin D in absence of which your body will not absorb calcium from your food and will eventually lead to osteoporosis.

One of the best ways of being healthy after menopause is to remain stress free. Keep positive attitude towards your life and avoid stress.
