Best Foods for Your Heart

    Having a healthy heart and a healthy body is very important and your health is highly affected by the food that you eat. The risk of suffering from a heart condition reduces if you eat food which is healthy for the heart and has antioxidants which will promote your health completely. Here are a few common foods that are ideal for your heart.

    Salmon
    Salmon is very rich in omega 3 fatty acids. Eating salmon avoids blood clotting and the formation of blockages in the heart and also keeps the blood pressure in control. You should try to eat salmon twice a week as this will reduce the risk of suffering from a heart attack once a month.

    Oatmeal
    Oats are rich in potassium, omega-3 fatty acids and folate. A bowl of oats in the morning can reduce the level of HDL cholesterol. This is extremely helpful in keeping the arteries clear of any blockage that can cause a heart stroke. Fiber rich varieties of oats should be consumed with a banana.

    Olive Oil
    Olive oil is rich in monounsaturated fats which are helpful in reducing the levels of LDL cholesterol and reduces the risk of any heart ailment.

    Nuts
    Walnuts, almonds and macadamia are nuts rich in mono and polyunsaturated fats and omega-3 fatty acids. Nuts are good for source of getting healthy fat and fiber which is important for a healthy heart.

    Legumes
    Ensure that your diet comprises of chickpeas, lentils and kidney beans as there have calcium, omega-3 fatty acids and fiber which reduce the risk of heart ailments.

    Spinach
    Spinach is very rich in folate, potassium, fiber and lutein which are good for the heart.

    Soy
    Soy is known for lowering cholesterol levels. Soy has a low content of saturated fats and also provides protein which is important for a heart healthy diet.

    Berries
    Strawberries, raspberries or any other berry you eat reduce the risk for cancer and heart diseases because they contain anti-inflammatory properties.

    Eating good food just makes sure that your diet is well rounded and it will make your heart healthier and your life longer.
