Blackheads Or Comedones
The dermatological name of blackheads is comedones. Comedones are small, they can be white, black or resemble the flesh color. The make the skin rough and one can clearly see dark bumps on the skin surface. They are abundant on the forehead, cheeks and chin with persons with acne. The black colored comedones are known as blackheads, they are not dirt but due to melanin. Closed ones are known as white heads. Here the follicle is blocked. The deeper ones are known as nodules.
The sebum glands are more active in people with acne, they further block the sebaceous duct thus comedones results. The micro-comedones cannot be seen with naked eye. Sometimes the cysts become large and painful too.
Blackheads results when the cells that are dead block the follicle pore, the oil gets stuck and solidifies. The overactive nature of the gland is responsible for this. It is basically due to genetics but other factors like stress and hormones also play a vital role in it.
People with oily skin should keep their faces clean and wash them with basic soap. Just avoid harsh abrasives. Exfoliation and unnecessary scrubbing can increase the condition. Avoid picking or squeezing the blackheads. This can lead to infection or zit. The pus should be removed with clean cotton and wash the hands. The pus can be removed by gently pressing it and taking the pus with clean cotton. Bleeding can further result in scar formation.
The hair should be clean and they should not fall over the face. Hence see that you maintain a hair cut or style that doesn’t comes over the face. Mild acnes are controlled with a topical antibiotic. The treatments may range depending upon the skin condition. Oral antibiotics as well as hormonal treatment are also given.
Make use of gentle natural ingredients to clean the skin. A gentle exfoliater is good, but over exfoliation can increase the problem. Do not touch the skin or else it can lead to cross infection.
