The long debate that grief can lead to mental illness has been going on. The debate on this theory has always been controversial and one might have never ended up with the proper results. However a bunch on researchers have put their best foot forward and have tired to resolve the connection between grief and mental illness.
According to the study that was conducted by the researchers of the University Of South Wales almost 10-15% people experience a deeply encrusted and intense sorrow and sadness that arises from the yearning of the deceased, that ultimately the individuals health is effected and impaired.
It gradually begins with their withdrawal socially leading to further depression. The extremes may become suicidal too. In such extreme cases the traditional counseling may not work.
It is suggested that people suffering from this kind of condition can get well and recover from treatment which makes use of cognitive behavior therapy. This kind of therapy has believed to bring in more positive changes in the mental state of the subject. It is more effective than the conventional practices of medication, which includes other mental disorders like anxiety and stress.
This founding’s was further strengthened by the team of researchers based at Sydney. The counselors are further conducting the studies so as to evaluate the treatment more resourcefully.
