Vomiting is the most common symptom of food poisoning. Many people suffer from diarrhea also. Nausea, abdominal pain or abdominal cramping too occurs in many cases. Most cases of food poisoning are caused due to different types of viruses found in contaminated food or drinks.

If food poisoning is caused by Noro viruses, you can suffer from vomiting, nausea, diarrhea or abdominal pain. Vegetables, which are contaminated by feces, transfer these viruses to them who consume it without cleaning properly. These viruses are also transmitted from contaminated water and fishes which remain in such water. If the person suffering is not treated immediately, it can convert into outbreak and many persons may become its victim. Such outbreaks are seen in hospitals and educational institutions as well as on cruise ships. Therefore these viruses are also called as Cruise Ship Illness.

Another virus which causes food poisoning is Rota virus. It mostly attacks kids and causes vomiting, diarrhea and fever too. It is also transmitted from person to person. Therefore the moment you find anyone suffering from this type of food poisoning, seek its treatment immediately and prevent it from spreading.

Food poisoning is also caused through Hepatitis A. In this case the victim suffers from fever and loss of appetite instead of vomiting or diarrhea. Many people also suffer from jaundice, in which liver is badly affected. This type of food poisoning is also caused due to food which is contaminated by feces. This type of food poisoning should be taken seriously otherwise it could prove to be dangerous.

Another serious condition of food poisoning is caused by bacteria. Bacteria attack its victim in two ways. One type of bacteria cause diarrhea but the other one manufacture poisonous chemicals. In the beginning it just causes vomiting but if left untreated it can cause kidney failure or even death.

Serious food poisoning cases occur due to Salmonellae bacteria also. In this type of food poisoning the symptoms occur as vomiting, diarrhea, headache, joint pains etc. This type of food poisoning is transmitted due to undercooked non-vegetarian foods. Therefore you are always reminded not to eat under-cooked or over-cooked food. This type of food poisoning can prove to be fatal if your immune system is too weak.
