Cheering a friend after breakup

When a friend breaks up, you always feel helpless most of the time as you feel you can’t really do anything to help her. Well, yes you can’t really help her get their love back or that same feeling of happiness but you surely can help her cope with the break up and get used to being single. Also, you can help her get on with her life in a normal way. First of all, let your friend cry her heart out and get angry all she wants to. Just make sure she does not do anything rash while at it. Letting her sob all she wants will help her get rid of all the pent up sadness. If she wants to punch pillows or just plain shout and abuse, let her do that. It will help her get rid of all the anger and frustration.

Tell her all the good things that can come out of the break up. Show her the positive sides, like she has more freedom now, she can spend more money on herself, and how there are plenty of good guys out there who are just waiting to have a girl like her. Also, remind her why she had the break up, the problems and ills of the relationship. Don’t let her blame herself. Ultimately, after a few days, the girl tends to blame herself and find faults where there isn’t any. This will just further depress her. Don’t let her do that.

Also, don’t let her think that all men are evil. There are bad men and there are bad women. If she feels that way about men, she’ll not be able to move on at all.

Take her out. Shopping always helps, also joyful and fun activities would help her keep her mind off the issue. You can also encourage her to pursue some creative activity. Pain and melancholy always produces wonderful artistic creations. So, tell her that and she might just make herself busy doing that.

The ultimate thing to do is remind her that time heals all and that every bad phase passes. Tell her that she will heal and that she will have a great life ahead. Be there for her and she will definitely feel better about herself.
