Knowing your skin tone: you must have an idea of your skin tone and color. Choose the concealer accordingly. For base concealer, you can go for your own skin tone and for darker spots or patches, go for one tone lighter than your original skin color.

Applying moisturizer prior to the concealer: Apply a coat of moisturizer before out apply the concealer. The moisturizer provides a great base for the concealer to stick to.
