Concealer – Applying it right

Concealers are beauty boons which help you camouflage the skin imperfections like under-eye dark circles, patches, blemishes and minor spots. Concealers hide these spots and makes the skin look blemish-free and gives the skin a fine makeup base. It is an indispensable part of the beauty kit. Selecting the right concealer: the most important part is the selection of the right concealer. The shades of the concealer vary with the problems they hide. Like, a basic toned concealer provides a good makeup base. A purple or pink toned one will be useful in hiding the under eye dark circles. If you have dry skin, go for liquid concealers which helps in retaining the moisture of the skin and at the same time providing smooth base and camouflaging the imperfections properly.

Knowing your skin tone: you must have an idea of your skin tone and color. Choose the concealer accordingly. For base concealer, you can go for your own skin tone and for darker spots or patches, go for one tone lighter than your original skin color.

Applying moisturizer prior to the concealer: Apply a coat of moisturizer before out apply the concealer. The moisturizer provides a great base for the concealer to stick to. In case you are using a liquid foundation, apply the concealer after you have applied the foundation. And if you are using a powder based foundation, then you must apply the concealer before applying the foundation.

Application: The most common way to apply concealer is to use your fingertips. Dab tiny dots on the places you need to camouflage and blend smoothly with the help of your fingertips. You can also use a brush or a sponge to blend it. After blending, apply a little bit of powder to set it in place.
