Crohn’s Diet

Crohn’s is a condition of the intestine. This condition cannot be neglected as it can lead to other conditions like intestinal cancer, irritable bowel syndrome, diarrhea or dehydration. One should take proper care while taking the diet, so as to have healthy intestines.

Food that we eat gets digested in the intestine. It is one of the major vital organs that help in food digestion. Thus food that can be easily digested by the stomach should be taken. Food that is not digested should not be consumed. The intestine in this condition is extremely vulnerable and weak. To alter the condition dietary regulation has to be made.

Tips for Crohn’s diet:-

A person suffering from Crohns should consume that has low fiber content. This will prevent from cramping in the abdomen and diarrhea. Diary and other milk products should not be taken. This is because food with lactose is very complex. The intestine is not in a condition to assimilate this complex food. Hence stay away from milk based products.

Low fat diet is recommended. This is so to prevent the intestine to be attacked by the condition known as steatorrhoea, which happens due to high fat in the diet.

See that the body is hydrated in good way. Consume plenty of water. Liquid diet is the safest diet in this condition. So drink generous amount of liquids. Fish oil has omega-3 fatty acids. They reduce the inflammation. Hence the diet must have fish oil or product.

Proteins like soy and poultry and low fiber diet should be consumed. White bread, biscuits, rice cereals, soups, ripe bananas and tomatoes can be eaten.

Fats are the food that can worsen the condition. So stay away from it. Caffeine and food that release allergies should not be eaten. Vegetables that can lead to irritation in the stomach like Brussels, broccoli, cabbage should be avoided.
