Good health is one of the topmost concerns on every one’s mind. There are several good health practices that can help to keep a person disease free and in good physical shape. However, there are several unreliable people with dubious credentials who may pose as medical professionals and promote dangerous health fads. Here is a list of some of the most notable health fads to be avoided:

Crash dieting courses that involve the intake of expensive and limited foods!

Weight control and fitness can be achieved by maintaining a scientifically balanced lifestyle, balanced diet and regular physical exercise under the supervision of a qualified trainer. But those who try to find an easy route by using dubious pills, and expensive food additive to eliminate hunger, and opting for starvation dieting courses can do much more harm than good to their body.

Enemas

The enema procedure must be used only under medical guidance, particularly in cases of severe constipation. However, some undependable marketers offer enema treatment as a magical cure for all possible ills. Excessive use of enemas can be dangerous to the colon rectum and intestines. Please make sure that all caution is observed while opting this treatment.

Detox Diets

Some sellers may offer you herbal or natural diets that claim to detoxify your liver or kidneys, and eventually helping to cure serious diseases. However, unless such claims are backed by adequate scientific evidence, it is better to avoid such health fads that have the potential to do more harm than good.

Avoiding important vaccinations

There is ongoing medical research to determine whether it is wise to use vaccines or do they cause more damage in the long run than providing benefit. However, at present the available medical evidence strongly goes in favor of vaccines and there is no wisdom in pre-empting the scientific research and presuming that vaccines are bad for us.

Executive physical and CT exams

In their urgency to make money, several marketing companies offer executive physicals and CT scans at a frequency that may be causing unnecessary harm to your body. Particularly, radiography exams and CT scans expose the person to harmful radiation. There is no logic in going for such exams at a frequency higher than necessary.
