Dating Advice For The Shy

Dating is risky business and daunting too, especially if you are the shy kinds. If you feel anxious when asking out someone you like, you have a tough road ahead. People must be telling you all sorts of things, setting you up for blind dates and giving you all sorts of advice. You, on the other hand, do not know what to do with your dating life.

Also there is the mounting pressure of competition and the biological clock is forever ticking. In this kind of a situation, you can find yourself at a loss. Dating is a risk that you will have to take sooner or later. So it is better done sooner, than later. Plan out your dating life just the way you would plan other things in your life that are important. Understand that dating is never easy for anyone. Even for those people who make it seem such an easy thing to do. Show as much commitment to your dating plans as you would to an important work assignment.

If you start feeling pressurized or anxious, you could use one of the many relaxation techniques that the psychotherapists suggest. Practice yoga and meditation to calm your nerves. Use other stress busting techniques too if you like.

Prepare yourself for rejection. If you like someone, it is not necessary that they like you back with the same intensity. In fact they might not like you at all. Rejection is a part of dating and you are not the only one who experiences it. You might have to face a lot of rejection before you eventually find someone with who you experience great chemistry. You might even reject many before settling with one person. It is essentially a two way process.

Join an activity that gives you a chance to meet new people of the opposite sex. Once you begin to feel comfortable with people of the opposite sex, you feel less anxious in their presence and the dating process begins to feel less intimidating.

Once you meet someone who excites you, take it slow. Don’t rush into things. Evaluate your interest in them and be sure of your feelings before you ask them out. Once you do ask them out, relax yourself. Plan out an evening and try to prepare yourself for any surprises that might come.

The most important thing is to give yourself some space. Awkward moments are a part of dating. Cut yourself some slack and just enjoy the company of your date.
