Dental Care
You will be surprised to know that gum diseases are the biggest reason of losing teeth. Neglecting your oral hygiene could lead to some serious dental problems such as TMJ, Cleft Palate, malocclusion, periodontitis, Gingivitis etc.
Let’s discuss one in detail,
Gum inflammation or Gingivitis:
This problem is caused due to plaque. Plaque is a sticky film of harmful bacteria that constantly accumulates in our mouth. It is not harmful as such but if left on the teeth for twenty four hours it starts producing irritating poisons and enzymes. If not checked in time this plaque hardens and creates more serious form of gum problem called periodontitis.
Periodontitis makes the gum recede creating gap where the food residue gets stuck. Within hours bacteria starts multiplying.
Unfortunately, you cannot know if you have a gum disease in its early stages. There is hardly any symptom or discomfort and by the time you realize it gets very late, therefore it is always a good practice to go for a regular dental checkup.
There are some symptoms which should never go unchecked, like,
If your gums bleed during brushing it is an indicator that your gums are receding. Also, Sensitivity to hot and cold show that there is a problem. Bad breath indicates gum infection or decayed teeth. You can cover it up with some mouth wash but don’t make it go unchecked.
Inflammation of the gums, a simple procedure can halt the problem.
f the teeth start loosening or shift position don’t overlook any of the symptoms.
According to some dentists you should brush your teeth only once in a day as a great deal of brushing can cause “toothbrush abrasion”. Best would be to rinse your mouth after every meal and brush it once using a soft brush and non abrasive paste. Brushing removes plaque and food particles from the teeth.
Make sure, you always use a brush with soft bristles, brush the outer as well as inner surface of the teeth. Flossing is also a good practice.
Moreover, Get your teeth cleaned professionally every six months and take a diet which is rich in calcium and proteins.
Make sure you eat apples or some hard fruits everyday as chewing is good for the teeth. It works like a massage and exercises our jaws.
Remember, our teeth are as precious as diamonds and consequently they should be treated the same way.
