Women mostly suffer from depression due to periods or menopause but men have different reasons for it. However, in men reduced sex drive (sexual problems) is one of the major causes of depression in men. If anyone is fired from his job unexpectedly, depression may strike him.

Depression can make the patient’s life miserable. However it can prove to be fatal sometimes and its sufferer can commit suicide. Therefore you should take it seriously when you regularly notice signs of depression in anyone. If you don’t tackle the problem quickly, it can become worse.

First of all you may consult any general physician. However, it is better to consult neurologist or psychiatrist for better results. Treatments too vary from person to person. You should be careful that the patient does not skip any medicines and if the patient feels better he should never stop taking medicines all of a sudden otherwise he may have to face major adverse affects.
