Do hormones help one to choose the right mate?
You have stumbled on a pretty beautiful face in the mall, pub or any public place and must have considered that she is the only one that is made for you. But hold on, it’s not the right time to make the move. See what the time of the day is. According to a latest study that was conducted by the British research Institute says that small changes that occur in the testosterone levels throughout the day and influence the preference of partners. The study further states that, human body is inundated with male hormones in the early part of the day, at this time a man will pick up a woman with more feminine delicate features. Where as in the afternoon, the levels of testosterone are at the lowest, at this time of the day he will prefer features a woman with more manlier and heavier features.
In the University of Face Aberdeen, Scotland, the research clearly revealed that male hormones are inconsistent as the female hormones. In this research was evaluated in a group of thirty men of age group 20 years. All these men were heterosexual and healthy and had normal levels of testosterone. They were asked to pick the most attractive photo from the forty pairs of photos. In each pair the same picture was modified by computer with masculine and feminine faces.
The feminine faces had long eyelashes, fleshy lips and perfect thin nose where as, the masculine features had relatively thick eyebrows and more prominent chin and lips. It was observed that when men have higher levels of testosterone then they would choose the photos that had more feminine features. And when their level was low then they would opt for pictures that had more masculine features. Among healthy men the level of hormones can fluctuate to 15%.
Where as among the women their mathematical calculations of hormones is entirely different and much more complicated. The observation stated that in the 28 days menstrual cycle, female hormones like the estrogen and the progesterone and even the male testosterone highly oscillates and fluctuates in a female body. All these there hormones produce psychological and physical reactions in all the four weeks in an entire month.
The study elaborated that in their first week the women are not bothered about their physical encounters. At this time they prefer a quieter guy, like a companion that has soft features. Then in due course of time their estrogen and progesterone levels increases. In the 14th day the level of testosterone is at its peak. Here the woman enters the ovulation phase, the fertile phase. At this time they are more attracted to more masculine kind of men. Attraction is complex which gets altered on account of different variables like environment etc.
