Easing Arthritis Pain

Arthritis can no doubt be extremely painful. One of the most natural ways to get some relief from the pain, without using any medication or any artificial contraption is movement of the affected part of your body. Though anybody with arthritis would agree that this is no easy task, especially when most of one’s gait, effective mobility and movement of the affected part of the body is constrained most severely but like many, I would make the case for movement as one of the most effective solutions. At a very physiological level, adequate exercising of the affected area improves the health of an individual as well as mitigates the pain in the long run.

Exercising helps in increasing mobility of the joints, strengthens the muscles adjoining the joints and these together go hand in hand with the benefit of achieving transportation of nutrients and waste products to and from the cartilage, the material which protects and cushions the ends of the bones. Exercising also helps in developing a better mental attitude.

After a good night’s sleep when the joints of the body have rested enough, wake up early in the morning and the first thing you should do is to naturally treat your joints with warm water bathing and then cold water bathing. You’ll find this very relaxing and relieving.

More often than not when you experience pain in the joints in the afternoons, try massaging them and this helps in bringing some natural relief to the affected joint. Massage the affected joint by applying gentle pressure and using appropriate hand movements and repeat this for 10 -15 minutes which will bring comfort and wellness to the sore and painful joints.

An important thing to remember is to avoid hitting or bumping or scraping the affected joints and their adjoining areas because they always end up aggravating the pain. In case such a thing happens, immediately immerse your hands in warm water for 10 minutes and keep moving the joints in some way or the other. This is an excellent way to strengthen and ease stiff joints, and relax sore muscles. The water helps in supporting the body while the joints are moved through their full range of motion. Also take care to avoid exposing affected joints to cold as that increases the pain that you go through. Keep the affected area adequately covered and warm as exposure to cold leads to swelling of the joints.
