Educative Games For Children
Children have excellent grasping power, and the best way to teach them is by playing educational yet fun games with them. Here are a few such games that you can play with your kid to enhance his/her intellectual abilities:
Word Game:
Boggle: This is a great game to improve your child’s vocabulary and spellings. The game begins by shaking a covered tray containing sixteen dices with a dissimilar letter printed on every face. Once the dices have settled (after shaking), the play begins. Each player is supposed to write down as many words as possible that can be constructed from the letters of serially adjoining cubes, where “adjoining ” cubes are those vertically, horizontally or diagonally neighboring. The words have to be more than two letters big. The player with the most words wins.
Math Games:
Memory game: It is believed that one of the best ways to construct a good understanding of math in a child is to work on there memorization ability. No game does it better than the ‘memory game’. This is a great game to work your child’s recollection power. In this game, you place a series of cards face down and turn over two cards each time, to find a match. If you do not find a match you keep the cards back in their place (face down) and if you find a match, those cards are removed from play. In this way the recollection skills of a child are tested and improved.
Music lessons: Another fun way to improve your child’s mathematics abilities is by enrolling him/her for music lessons. It is believed that music scales and time signatures help children in improving their fractions and additions. It’s a fact that music has the power to perk up mental ability.
Science Games:
A trip to the zoo: One of the best ways to make a child learn about different forms and species is by taking them to the zoo. Children love field trips and zoo is a very fascinating place for them. You can make the learning comprehensive by putting up questions to your child, like- “why do you think these fishes have fins?”(The fish uses these fins to swim in the water). “Why does a chameleon change its color to match the environment?”(To hide from threat and also to hunt for food)
Trip to the dairy/vegetable Farm: A trip to a farm is a great idea. Kids can learn a lot of things such as- where milk comes from, how to milk a cow, how does a hen lay eggs, how are veggies grown. Moreover, they are also exposed to farming equipment such as tractors, ploughs etc. You can ask your child questions about different vegetables and enlighten them with their nutritious value.
