Eye Exercises
We all are aware about the importance of fitness and health. We all devote time to maintain other parts of the body but often ignore the most important sense organ of our body, the eyes. Remember even the most beautiful sense organs of the body that are the eyes need exercises. These exercises are important to sustain the eyesight and to reduce the strain that happens in the eyes in day to day life.
Here are discussed some of the exercises that will help in maintaining the vision as well as the beauty of the eyes. Sit comfortably, either on the chair or on the floor. Now rub both the palms, till they become warm. Cover the eyes with the warm cupped palms. See that you do not put pressure on the eyes and the light should not enter the eyes. Now try to concentrate and focus on the darkness and also concentrate on the breath. While doing these palming exercises, think about the positive things that have happened in your life. One can do this exercise 3-4 times whenever the eyes feel stressed.
The second exercise is closely shutting the eyes for 3-5 seconds and opening it again for 3-5 seconds. This can be done in sets of 10 and can be practiced 5-6 times in a day.
The third exercise, keep the eyes closed. Now massage the eyes with the finger tips in a circular fashion for 2-3 minutes. Do it gently without applying much pressure over the eyes.
The fourth exercise can be done by pressing the upper eyelid with the three finger of the hand. Be in this position for 2-3 seconds and then gently release the eyelids. This could be repeated 5 times in a day.
The next exercise could be done in sitting position. Roll the eyes first clockwise 5-6 times and anti-clockwise. Avoid blinking in between. This can be repeated 2-3 times a day.
The next exercise can be done with a prop like a pen or a pencil. Hold the pencil at an arm length. Now gradually move the arm towards the nose. Try to keep the focus of the eyes on the pencil. Repeat this 10 times.
Next exercise can be done in creative manner by looking at the opposite blank wall. Imagine with the help of the eyes you are writing something. In the beginning you may find it difficult to do so but once you have practiced, you can thoroughly enjoy the exercise.
For few seconds stare at a distant object that is kept 150 feet away approximately. Now gradually bring focus to the object that is kept near by at a distance of 15 feet. Do this in sets of 5; it can be done 2-3 times in a day.
By doing the above exercises, one can improve the sight but will also prevent the sight damage.
