Eye Makeup Tips and Ideas

The eyes are usually the first thing that is noticed. Good eye makeup is essential in your overall looks and if applied wrongly can spoil the natural beauty you wish to enhance. Some of the cosmetics used which constitute eye makeup are eye liners, eye shadow and mascara.

Eye liners come in liquid form and as a pencil, you could choose either based on your comfort. Starting with the upper eye lid, liners are used on the bottom and top eyelids. Pencils are usually used to get a smokier look. If you wish to get the ‘cat eyes’ look, extending the liner upwards from the corner of your eye will achieve this. To make your eyes look smaller, you could line only the outside edges of your eyes.

Eye shadow shades are usually used to compliment the color of your skin and other cosmetics you would be using. It comes in powdered and cream based form. To prevent creasing when using cream based shadows, applying a neutral colored powder eye shadow first will help. A medium color shade highlighted with a lighter shade will be the best combination. Matching your eye shadow with the color of the eyes does not help in making your eyes stand out.

Therefore mascara is most popularly used as eye makeup. Thick lashes are most desirable, but excess application should be avoided to prevent clumping or smudging. Using a tissue paper to wipe the mascara stick will help in reducing too much application. Usually applied on lower and upper lashes, one should begin from the base of the eye lash line all the way to the tip.

Once you know how to apply these eye makeup cosmetics, it is also important to know in what order or the technique required for good make up. The best way is to first use a concealer (to cover dark circles and blemishes) and then apply an eye base (to prevent creasing of eye shadow). You could then begin applying the cosmetics in the order of eye shadow, eye liner and highlighter.  Lastly, before applying mascara, you could curl your lashes to get curly, thick long lashes.
