Five Benefits From Drinking Wine
Wine culture has existed across the world since thousands of years. The intimate knowledge of wines has allowed wine growers to continuously improve regulation and preservation of its quality. Wine is a convoluted natural product containing over 200 organic compounds including vitamins A, B, and C and several minerals such as iron, calcium, magnesium, copper, and zinc.
There is much more to wine than just rich taste and variety. A glass of wine daily can do a lot of good to our over all health. In fact, the medicinal value of wine is as old as wine itself. Here are five age old benefits of drinking wine:
Lowers risk of diabetes:
Drinking wine helps to reduce the risk for developing diabetes. Resveratrol, an antioxidant found in red wine, helps to counter diabetes and insulin resistance, which reduces the chances of diabetes.
Good heart:
Drinking a glass or two with meals may indeed help to protect against heart disease. The compounds inside the wine have been shown to substantially increase HDL levels, slightly decrease LDL levels and, therefore, very constructively influence the HDL to LDL ratio. Researchers have determined that approximately 50% of the effect of wine on the reduction of cardiac deaths is mediated through increased levels of HDL which may be the single most important action of wine in the prevention of cardiac disease.
Cataracts:
Drinking red wine may help prevent cataracts, one of the common effects of aging. Red wine helps alleviate eye fatigue. Two glasses of red wine daily can be very beneficial for the eyes.
Lowers risk for heart attack:
Scientists have learned that the phenolic compounds found in wine also acts to prevent clot formation, or thrombosis, the second major reason accountable for causing heart attacks. Phenolic compounds decrease thrombosis by several different mechanisms, all of which collectively make clot formation less likely.
Increases life span:
With all of the health benefits mentioned above it becomes pretty obvious that wine helps live longer. Wine has been shown to help slow down the aging of the brain and help brain function efficiently for a longer duration of time. Also with such an important impact on curbing heart diseases and strokes no wonder wine consumption can make us live healthy for years and years.
