Flirting Don’ts
Flirting may be a cool time pass for you. But it can easily turn from fun to embarrassment in a matter of minutes, because of some foolish slip. So keep from falling into such situations. Guys are prone to make typical blunders that often ruin even the most promising cases. Just avoid these common flirting mistakes.
Don’t get your friends to set up dates for you. It’s OK to take your friends’ help once in a while. But if you make this a habit then your dates may get the idea that you are incapable of finding dates on your own, or are too bashful to put yourself forward. Nothing turns a woman off faster than a lack of confidence in the man. So help yourself!
Don’t boast about yourself. That’s a definite turn off. Open a conversation in which she can have a share. Be light and funny.
Avoid cliched pick up lines. That is NOT cool. Don’t bore her with common over-used ‘nothings’.
Don’t cut raunchy jokes. That may disgust the woman into retreating. Saying cheap things is not cool. Throw compliments, but not such blatantly sexual ones that she feels embarrassed.
Don’t try too hard to be cool. She understands when you overdo it.
Don’t try to be too sweet. Sugar-coated conversations and honeyed looks are well enough in friendship, but not if you have some grown-up action in mind! While trying to impress her don’t end up being taken up as a friend!
Don’t show your nervousness. Stammering, fidgeting, looking over her shoulder, avoiding eye contact are signs of nervousness and you would do better to avoid them.
Don’t touch her too much. Watch her response to your approach. If it’s favorable then you may occasionally touch her hand or brush against her. But don’t clutch or grope her or put your arms around her shoulder. Make sure that a light flirtation does not become a case of unwanted molestation.
Learn to read and correctly interpret body language. Flirting is more fun when you convey your message through little gesture and movements than using words. If she responds then proceed. If not, then draw back gracefully.
