Freckles

Small brown spots on the skin caused by sun are known as freckles. They are more prominent in people with lighter skin color and younger in age. You will see them more in summers and as the winter approaches they become lighter. Freckles are mainly the skins way of telling us that it is being damaged.

Before going for a freckle treatment you must consult a dermatologist and rule out any possibility of skin cancer or lever problems.

The best way to avoid freckles is to avoid sun exposure by applying a lot of sun screen. Try to cover your skin as much as possible by wearing a hat, long sleeves and long pants. Bleach is another way of removing freckles. Bleaching creams usually contain a chemical called hydroquinone which helps in fading the skin. Using bleach can slow down the production of melanin and can get rid of freckles. But you must remember that these chemicals can damage the skin and sometimes cause serious skin irritation.

Most effective way to get rid of freckles is laser treatment. This can be done by a dermatologist- by giving you a local anesthesia; the dermatologist will remove the upper layer of the skin. It takes around one to two weeks to heal. You can also go for chemical peals.

This treatment should also be taken under professional guidance. Chemical peal is an intense exfoliation of several layers of the skin. Freckles are on the upper layer of the skin and can be removed easily. The healing depends on the type of skin. Normal skin takes two days but sensitive skin can take a little longer.

Some creams with retinoid can also be used to get rid of the freckles. Another method which people go for is liquid nitrogen treatment–when applied to the freckles it forms a blister and lifts the freckle and makes it fall off after drying. But this can be very painful.
