Gallstones Diet

When stones are formed in the gall bladder then they are known as gall stones. Diet and nutrition has a vital role in its formation. It is important to everyone to be well educated about one’s diet. Ignorance of any kind should be shunned. In most of the cases it has been observed that diet plays a major role and is the root cause of the ailment or condition. The main way to correct the condition is by bringing in changes in the food habits. By altering the diet the condition can be alleviated.

Diet to prevent gallstones:-

Natural foods that are based on animals can lead to gallstones. Spicy and oily food, eggs, onion, beans, pork and red meat can lead to gall stone. Meats that have low cholesterol content are fish, chicken and turkey. They can be consumed.

Fibrous food are good, they can prevent the condition. Fruits and vegetables are abundant with fiber that is water soluble. Such food should be consumed in large quantities.

Drinking water in large quantities is a must. This ensures flushing and reduces the formation of stones in gallbladder. Low sugar and low fat diet should be followed. Avoid eggs.

Fats in form of omega-3 and omega-6 can be taken. Consume green leafy vegetables in good quantities. Sugar in refined form can also lead to formation of gallstones. Sprouts and salads are best to control the condition.

Desserts that have creams, cheese and curd should not be taken. Confectionaries, biscuits, doughnuts, pies, cakes should be totally avoided. Similarly stay away from sausages, poultry, ham or goose, cold meats etc. see that you do not skip meals or starve for long. One can get back to normal food routine after surgery.

In most of the cases restrictions in diet is important till the gallstones are washed out. Thus good food habits do make a difference.
