Going for a Regular Checkup

Going for a basic check up regularly helps us in spotting problems and preventing them to develop into a bigger problem. Here are certain checkups that you should tend to:

The first visit to an eye specialist should be at the age of 3 or should be when a child starts going to school to detect lazy eye problems or any eye infections. If left uncorrected these problems can lead to complete loss of eye sight. Moreover, if you have high power you need to visit an eye specialist once a year. But after age of forty, you need to go every six months.

Dental checkups should be taken every six months. Adults who are regular have a great advantage of saving their natural teeth by availing the new techniques. Certain problems like bleeding of the gums, bad breath, cavities, decay, etc can happen at any age and can be cured if tended to in time. Remember, Problems which can be sorted with a little care become serious and sometimes un-repairable due to our negligence.

We often go to a general physician for cold cough or fever etc, but after the age of forty, we need to take some tests once a year. This includes lipid profile, test for diabetes, and screening of lever, kidney and urine. It is surprising how many conditions are picked up on routine medicals.

Gynecology is a branch of medicine which deals with health care of women. You need to realize that no matter what your age if you are sexually active, you need to go to a gynecologist. Most of the problem in women can be avoided by regular trip to a gynecologist. For example, cancer of cervix or breast cancer can be detected early with a mammogram and pap test. These simple tests can save lives.

More than sixty percentage of people who suffer from orthopedic problems will seek help from there family physician, who will give anti inflammatory medicine which only suppresses the problem for few days. Taking care of your bone health can save you from many serious health consequences. Few tests can tell you about your current bone conditions and health doctor in devising a plan to improve or maintain the bone health.
