Hazards Of Working Late

Working late nights and overtime can leave the body unfit and prone to a lot of diseases. Just like a machine needs to be turned off after certain hours of work, our body needs its time to rest and rejuvenate as well, otherwise it will damage and put one in a very compromising situation.

Working late can create stress and tension. When people over work themselves, they are bound to feel sleeplessness, loss of appetite and hypertension, which further increases tension and stress levels. This becomes a vicious cycle as increase of stress levels can lead to several major disorders and health problems such as—heart attack, kidney problems and dementia. Furthermore, working late can lead to inculcation of bad habits such as—smoking and drinking, which can further aggravate the already existing health problems.

Working late can also make a person incompetent and deprive him of his ability to give his best to the company. It’s only obvious that a person’s productivity drops when he is tired and worked up. He starts making mistakes and is unable to perform to his optimum, which could lead to depression and other psychological issues. Hence, working late is not just a hazard for the employee but for the company as well.

One major aspect of the person’s life which is affected by working late is his family life. Late working hours might still be okay with young unmarried people but when it comes to a family man or a woman, it’s not such a good idea. It’s really important to strike a balance between one’s personal and professional life. It’s a fact that odd working hours can lead to rifts and problems in a marriage. It also increases the chances of infidelity as intimacy issues start to propagate among the couples.

Remember, its important to  keep ones working hours normal for health, professional and personal reasons.
