Healthy Diabetic Diet
Bitter Gourd is very beneficial food for the diabetics because it contains plant insulin which is rarely found. Though people eat cooked bitter gourd as vegetable, its raw juice is highly effective in controlling blood sugar. It works better if its juice is consumed in empty stomach. Fenugreek seeds are also very effective in controlling blood sugar levels if you soak it overnight and grind it next morning and drink it daily in empty stomach. Raw garlic and cinnamon are some of the best foods (spices) to control blood sugar levels. Raw garlic is highly rich in antioxidants like allicin, selenium, Vitamin C and other minerals which burn calories and reduce fat. Cinnamon plays vital role in controlling blood sugar levels because it improves the metabolism of glucose in your system. You should consume a pinch of cinnamon everyday to keep diabetes in control. Onion too is very good in lowering blood sugar levels. Apart from cooked onion, you should eat raw onions daily.
Vinegar is very effective in reducing sugar levels. It is a fact that when diabetics take their meals, their sugar levels (spikes) rise in their blood. Many researches have proved that if you consume vinegar before eating your food, these spikes of the sugar in your blood can be controlled.
Among fruits, grapefruits are considered to be beneficial for diabetics but should not be consumed in huge quantity. 3 grapefruits a day is enough for you if you are a diabetic. You can also eat apples with its skin, lime and peaches. Indian blackberry is also very suitable fruit for you. Even its seeds are extremely beneficial to control sugar levels if you powder it and consume it by mixing honey in it.
Fiber foods are very beneficial for diabetics. Cabbage, spinach, beans etc are good sources of fiber. You should eat them regularly because fiber lowers your blood cholesterol as well as sugar level.
If you chop lady’s finger and put them in a glass of water at night and drink the water next morning in empty stomach, your blood sugar levels will be reduced. If your blood sugar level has gone very high, you should mix Indian gooseberries and juice of bitter gourd and consume it regularly for 2-3 months.
Leaves of Azadirachta indica and wood apple tree are highly beneficial for diabetics.
