Heart Block Symptoms

Heart is a very delicate as well one of the most vital organs of our body. It is also regarded as the life of our body because if it stops functioning a person will die instantly. If you experience any problem in your heart, you should immediately consult your doctor to avoid any serious problem such as heart failure or heart block.

Heart failure takes place due to 2-3 major reasons. One of the chief causes of heart attack is high blood pressure. When hypertension patient’s blood pressure reaches too high he/she may experience heart attack. This happens mainly because arteries get blocked due to various reasons and the blood supply to the patient’s heart is completely stopped. As a result of lack of blood or oxygen, the patient experiences cardiac arrest.

Heart block is another leading cause of heart failure. In heart block, electrical signals do not pass from upper chambers to the lower chambers properly. There are different types of heart block viz. first degree heart block, second degree heart block and third degree heart block.

Though first and second degree heart blocks are not serious, third degree heart block is very dangerous and can be critical. Thus, if you sense that you are suffering from third degree heart block, you should immediately seek medical help.

To know whether you are suffering from heart block or some other condition, you should be able to recognize heart block symptoms. Here are some symptoms of heart block. Recognizing them timely can save your life.

First block heart block symptoms are not recognized as they are minor. Also, they are not risky and can be left untreated. In second degree heart block symptoms, you can feel light-headedness or dizziness or tendency to faint. Additionally, you can feel chest pain (which worsens while doing any physical work) and shortness of breath. You may feel dizzy if you abruptly change your position.

The symptoms of third degree heart block include chest pain, fainting, light-headedness, and slow heart beat, which is also known as bradycardia.

In some cases, especially during pregnancy, congenital third degree heart block may occur. It may also occur in infants and young children and its symptoms include blotchy and pale skin, dizziness, lethargy, dullness etc. You must consult your doctor without delay if you observe any symptom of the third degree heart block.
