Hepatitis C

Hepatitis C is the disease of liver where inflammation is caused due to Hepatitis C virus. Hepatitis C infects more than 250,000 people in United States. No vaccine is available to protect or prevent from Hepatitis C but it can be treated effectively.Hepatitis C is dangerous because it doesn’t show any sign of its existence in your body until it is too late. It mainly attacks your liver. So by the time you come to know about this disease your liver is damaged to great extent. Some people get liver cirrhosis after 20 years and a few may also get liver cancer.

Liver is one of the most important organs of your body. It purifies your blood and sends purified blood to almost all parts of your body. But if your liver malfunctions, firstly it will stop purifying your blood. You can well imagine that if your blood is not purified too much toxins will be collected and none of your organs will function properly if your blood gets impure. Hence it is very essential to detect Hepatitis C at an early stage so that you can treat it timely.

Some of the symptoms of Hepatitis C are fatigue and abnormal weight loss. If you usually find it difficult to concentrate in your work it could also be its symptoms. You can also experience loss of appetite, nausea, regular fever, and joints pain. If your liver pains while consuming alcohol it could be due to Hepatitis C.

The transmission of Hepatitis C usually takes place when your blood comes in direct contact with affected person’s blood. You can get it if any person infected from it donates you blood. If you use anyone’s razor affected with this disease, you can get this disease. Tattoo too gives you Hepatitis C if the same equipment is used which was used for Hepatitis C patient. It also gets transmitted sexually. However it is not transmitted through kissing or by touching, hugging etc.

Many times it is treated with anti viral medicines. In case of liver failure, liver transplant is also done. To stop the disease from worsening, stop consuming alcohol and anything which can cause harm to your liver. Also eat foods that are good for liver. To prevent it to some extent take vaccines of Hepatitis A and Hepatitis B.
