How Safe are Your Kids at School?
With the system failing all across the globe the security and the safety of your child even in school is question mark in today’s context. You can make a personal check and evaluate how safe are the schools.
Limited access or entry to school- the entrance and the exit points must have limited access. The basic facilities should include with eth visitor check in procedure. They are the safety protocols designed for the kid’s safety. The staff should also be well aware that who is in or around the building.
All the other accesses should be locked except for the main entrance- some schools have the keypad entry or buzzer system. There are others that can be entered only by specific visitor area. Better watch out that any other person can sneak in behind the parent or the entrant who has just come in with the code etc and he/she may behave like another parent. All the exit doors must follow the safety guidelines.
Safety cameras- does the school have other safety measures like the camera? If yes, then whether they are monitored or not.
Identification and approval- the importance of identification of the person who will be picking the kid from the school is must. If some adults are picking then they should be approved from the list. These measures are important for the child’s safety. The parents should well respect and cooperate with the protocol as these have been designed for the safety of their kids.
Other safety plans at school- among other plans see that no parent is being allowed inside the classroom. The kids should not be allowed to leave on their own, but this can be problematic with eth latchkey kids. The access to schools should be more controlled.
Safety smarts to be taught to kids- they are in the form of lessons and sessions according to the age of the student. The kids are taught self-awareness, privacy tips, strangers and dangers. The lessons are taught with parents approval, it’s a best reinforcement that a child can receive from both school and the parent together.
