How to choose the right alternative medical practioner?

The world is full of people who will promise you the world but deliver nothing. In the same way, there are thousands of alternative medical fields that will promise cures for everything in the world including AIDS! But you as a patient and a consumer have to be aware of what is right for you and what you can get for the money that you are paying.

Thousands of people all over the world now use alternative medicine in the form of naturopathy, ayurveda, and homeopathy to treat and control chronic medical conditions. If you are planning to do the same, then here are a few simple methods by which you can choose the right alternative medical practitioner for yourself and your family-

Ask your primary care physician. Most doctors will be more than happy to recommend a good alternative physician that they know. This will also reassure you that the doctor that you are choosing is well versed in the field of therapy while still being licensed by the relevant authorities. Get in touch with hospitals too as most hospitals will have accredited alternative physicians who are on call for their patients

Once you have shortlisted practitioners that you like then you can find out about their expertise and field of experience by asking for references and accreditation sources. Make sure that you ask for the names of satisfied customers who have been treated previously.

Once you have found a doctor that you like, you will have to make sure that your treatment is covered under your medical insurance policy. Please note that not all alternative medical practices and doctors are covered. If you do not have coverage you will have to pay for the treatment out of your own pocket.

Please note too that no matter what kind of alternative medical practitioner you choose; you should be comfortable with the treatment. Please make sure that you inform your medical doctor about any medication or treatment that you are undergoing with alternative doctors as a precaution. Discontinue any treatment that causes you pain and makes your condition worse.
