How to Dress According to your Figure?
One of the major fashion mistakes that most of the women commit is by not dressing in accordance to their body shape and structure. You may tend be carried with the latest haute couture and may try to follow it blindly without noticing that whether it will suit you or not. Here are tips suggested for people with various shapes and structures and how to dress accordingly:-
Apple shaped body- the weight in such body is in the mid section. The trick lies in using angular lines clothing to neutralize the roundness of the body.
What to wear- wrap tops give delusion of narrow waist, corset style tops, seamed blouses, the pleating should be under the bust, v- necks or scoop necks, empire style dress, jeans which can stretch, high waisted pants, go for straight leg trousers than skinny bottoms should be worn. You can camouflage the fat near the stomach and the abdomen with stretchable tank tops. This will give a smooth, seamless base.
What not to wear- dresses that lack shape, acute A- line dresses, pockets on the top half, large and bold patterns.
Pear shaped body- such figure has smaller top and heavier bottom. One can get the balance by adding volume on the upper half of the body and reducing dimensions in the lower half.
What to wear- pants that are dark in colors, stretchable fabric will give a slender look. Seams should be in the front leg, go for skirts that are fluted, they can have a bit of flair too, thick waistbands will give illusion of slender bottom. The tops can be A-lined, ¾ length jackets, tunic tops that are low slung, see that the top should stop at mid thigh length or near the knee.
What not to wear- stay away from faded, wash denims, this will only highlight your problematic areas, extremely tight, body hugging tops, detailed pockets near the thighs and hips will widen the bottom shape.
