How to keep ingrown hair at bay?
There are times when one decides to get the eyebrows done, but the hair grows back even before it comes to notice. What you would do? Make a visit to another parlor, to get the in grown hair removed? But once you go to the parlor you find that the hair is not there. The situation may sound strange. The problem is of ingrown hair.
The ingrowth in hair is due to hair shaft that gets deformed, because of which the hair curls and gets penetrated back into the skin. It thus gets trapped there. Sometimes, the hair gets trapped and as a result infection causes. This kind of skin infection is called as Pseudofolliculitis Barbae, according to dermatologists.
If one observes it closely then it looks like small red wallop with a back dot, where the hair gets trapped in the centre. The skin gives a rough and grainy feel. Among men this problem appears in the bearded area. While among the females it happens in arms, underarms and legs.
The main factor that results in Pseudofolliculitis Barbae is hair removal. Any method in which the hair is shaven too short causes the chances of ingrown hair. It basically when the hair is removed with razor. Waxing is also not a safe option. As repeated waxing will weaken the hair, it results in follicular inflammation and the hair shaft gets deformed.
Laser treatment is another option. But it is best for permanent hair removal and is recommended best for females. There are some preventive techniques that one can make use of so as to avoid formation of ingrown hairs. Use cold fomented method for hair removal. After and session of waxing or shaving apply the area with an antiseptic lotion. Or one can use a body scrub regularly to hinder the hair growth. One can even use an electric shaving razor in the direction of hair follicle.
Keep in mind that taking care of skin after hair removal is important to prevent the formation of ingrown hair.
