How To Prevent Obesity Among Children?

With changing times children are more vulnerable to become obese. Thanks to the change in lifestyle, eating habits, nil physical activity and the parent’s ignorance and laid back attitude towards this. Here are discussed some of the ways to prevent obesity among kids.

Avoiding beverages- nutritionists and dietician opine that carbonated soft drinks are unhealthy. Not even kids but adults should shun their habit of consuming these diet beverages and carbonated drinks. In order to get the right nutrition from the drinks one should consume more and more amount of fresh fruits and vegetable juices. Among other healthier alternative, low-fat milk should be given.

Curb fast food- ensure that the children do not consume fast food items. Hamburgers, French fries, milk shakes, chips, and hot dogs might be tasty to eat but they have high amount of fattening products. If your kid is obsessed with such kinds of food then it is better to sit with them and to explain the negative ill effects of these fast foods on their health. Make sure that you do not make such food at home and start practicing other healthy eating habits like eating green salads, raw vegetables and fruits. There are some other healthy eateries like sushi, which make use of nutritional food items in their dishes, you can visit such restaurants and eateries and encourage your children to consume such food.

Reduction in time spent on TV’s and computers- restrict the time of your kid on television, computers and play stations. Even researches have proven that sitting in front of television is harmful for the kids. You can enroll them to some physical activity class like, dancing, tai chi, martial arts, swimming, tennis etc.  By doing this their time will be utilized learning the new skill and they will remain healthy.

Promote good physical activity- exercising is the best way to spend the un-burnt calories. It is the best way to stretch all the body muscles and strengthening the body. The parents should ensure that the kids have got their daily dose of physical exercise. Encourage you kid to participate in all the events and activities that takes place in school, community or neighborhood level.

Eating healthy and practicing physical activity will teach your kid to lead a disciplined and healthy life. It is the parent’s responsibility to see that the kid enters the new life of healthy living.
