Pet female dogs need proper care when they are pregnant. There are a lot of things you need to take care of to ensure healthy delivery. Here are a few things or tips you should keep in mind:

First of all, how do you know if your bitch is pregnant? A simple way to find out is by observing her vulva. If it is swelled up even weeks after her heat period and she has been avoiding eating properly, then there is a good chance that she is pregnant.

Moreover, if her stomach also remains upset a lot, it just adds to the signs. But make certain you do not assume things and for that matter take her to a vet.

Once you are confirm that your dog is pregnant then make sure you provide her with proper comfort. Make her a dog bed which is comfortable because dogs during there pregnancy period like staying at one place, which is comfortable. Also, she will be a little irritable due to vaginal discharges so make sure you offer her a lot of comfort and love.

Another very important thing which needs to be taken care of is her Food. You can give her the same diet that you have been giving her but add certain vitamin supplements (with doctors guidance) and make sure the diet is extra nutritional.

During the last days of her pregnancy switch her to puppy food. This is good for the new born’s. Furthermore, rather than giving her three meals, feed her with several small meals a day. Also make sure she has access to clean water for drinking all the time.

Exercise your dog every day by taking her to long walks, either in the park or road side. Exercise keeps the dog in shape and keeps her fit for the delivery day.

Vaccination should be avoided during pregnancy as this could lead to abortion. If you want to vaccinate your dog make sure you do it either before or after pregnancy.
