Hypermetropia

Another name of “Hypermetropia” is “Long sightedness”. A “Long sighted” person is capable of visioning far away objects. But there is difficulty in visualizing things that are near by. Among kids it has been observed that they complain with problem of reading their books. They have to closely see and observe things that are near by. One may also complain with constant headache and excessive strain on the eyes. Kids usually suffer from Hypermetropia of milder version.

The focus of light is very important especially over the retina. Here when the light is from distant object the focus is proper and appropriate while when the object is near by then they face difficulty in focusing the object.

The light in this case is located in the back of the retina and the vision is impaired. It has been observed that in small or short eye the chances of focusing away from the proper place are more. Cornea and lens also plays a vital role in this.

Its causes:-
In most of the cases if the parent suffers from this condition then there are chances that he/she may pass it to their kids too. In case of any prevalent eye condition then there are chances that the person may also develop Hypermetropia.

But there are also certain cases where both the parents have healthy eye sight but the kids do suffer from eye condition.

Light plays a vital role for the healthy development of the eye. Hence light should reach the eye without any obstruction. In case of corneal dystrophy or cataract even the eyesight is unclear and may further result in Hypermetropia.

There are other conditions like micrrophthalmia & retinitis pigmentosa. These two conditions are also connected with Hypermetropia. It’s better to visit the appropriate eye doctor and to wear correct specks of appropriate number.
