Is a Non-Serious Relationship Good?

By on January 28, 2009

A non serious relationship (a.k.a-fling) is a liaison which is not permanent and both the parties involved have no intention or the expectation to turn it into a serious one, well, at least that’s how it starts. A fling can be very tricky, as sometimes it can be extremely heart breaking and depressing.

People love flings because they are low maintenance and you do not have to put too much effort of knowing the person. Moreover, the sex and the intensity are extremely great. It’s a relationship which makes you feel on top of the world, if only for a little while because that’s how long it lasts.

The major problem with flings is that people sometimes fall in love and get serious. This is especially the case with women. At a stretch of time, as women get physically involved and get closer to a man, they start feeling more intimate. However, men are not like that. More often than not, If they say they are in a fling- they ARE in a fling, unlike their female counterparts who might say something and then act the complete opposite.

Secondly, flings have nothing to do with emotional compatibility. The person you might be casually dating may be completely emotionally unavailable for you. He/she might not be there when you want to talk, as sex is the only attraction. Such behavior can be extremely frustrating and make you wonder why you are in a relationship like this in the first place.

Remember, flings are only for those who actually keep the excessive emotions out of it. Hoping somewhere that it might turn out to be something serious is senseless as the mere foundation of a fling is- a noncommittal liaison. Hence, if you feel you are not cut out for it, don’t get into it.
