Is Milk Healthy for the Body?

Milk is thought to be an ideal food for everybody. It is thought to contain all the vital nutrients required for good health. Though there was a lot of truth in this in older times but the way the cows are treated and injected with hormones to produce more milk than their bodies would usually produce, leaves them with not much nutrients.

In fact regular injections result in an increase in the amount of puss and bacteria which end up in the milk we drink. Yes I know you take pasteurized milk. This process kills bad bacteria but also destroys the pro biotic, the key enzyme that help in digesting milk. Not only this, it even destroys the omega 3 fatty acid and vitamin-C which is in good quantity before pasteurization.

Many people think that milk protects us from diseases like osteoporosis. But the pasteurization converts the calcium into insoluble form that the body can no longer absorb. However there are better ways to get your calcium from like broccoli, sardines, nuts, etc.

Milk is even ranked among the top eight offenders for food allergies. There are many protein allergies in cows milk that causes allergic reaction, in fact low fat varieties are actually more allergic due to higher protein concentration leading to leaky gut syndrome. The composition of milk also depends on what cow eats. Cows are meant to eat grass, but to increase milk they are given grains which lowers the level of CLA, an ingredient which helps in building muscles and burning fat.

The problem does not lye in milk but the way it is produced. If you feel you are addicted to milk then go for un homogenized milk or organic skimmed milk. You can even use soya milk. Other varieties are rice, oat and camel milk.
