Know your commitment level
You are in a relationship for the past few months. Each time you review your relationship, you feel good, happy, cared for. But is that enough? Sometimes you are scared and feel little doubts at the back of your mind.
You are afraid that these wonderful feelings may wane with time, that this beautiful present may not have just as beautiful a future. It is important, at times, to assess your relationship, to evaluate the level of commitment you share with your partner. Once you have all the answers, you can enjoy an untroubled present.
If you feel your partner is not as responsive or as serious about the relationship as you are, then don’t break down. There may be a very concrete reason behind it.
Often it may seem that a guy is taking things lightly, when it is but a show and he is as serious about your relationship as you can wish. This show he puts on may originate from a fear of getting hurt, or insecurity, or simply because he is, by nature, an introvert where his deepest emotions are concerned.
It must be kept in mind that commitment and loyalty are two different things. A guy may be committed from his heart to make his relationship work, but he may not be always loyal to his partner and may indulge in affairs outside his relationship.
It then depends on the partner to decide how she will handle the situation, whether she will walk out or give him another chance. But that is another matter. The point is that you should never confuse between loyalty and commitment.
The best way to have a high commitment level is to be best friends with your partner. Friendship is that quality which can make the strongest base in any relationship. It often starts with just friendship.
Slowly it matures and develops into love. The best thing is that in friendship two people are intimately involved without those constraints that are common in love.
That way you come closely acquainted with your partner and thus can move into a commitment effortlessly when you finally decide to take this relationship forward.
