Aerobic exercises strengthen the heart and lung muscles. Jogging and running are the most popular form of aerobics. Running at a comfortable pace is called jogging. You don’t need any training for jogging. Anybody at any age can be benefited by it. Only important perquisite of jogging is the right kind of shoes. They help in preventing any injury. Not any sport shoes like tennis or basket ball shoes can be used. Don’t buy anything fancy or something which is just matching your dress. Shoes should provide good support around the heels with well cushioned mid soul to reduce the impact of shock. They should fit you properly either lose or tight can injure the foot. Wear lose and comfortable clothes, they should be of breathable quality.
Do some warm up exercises for 10 to 15 minutes like arm rotations, waist twisting and stretching the calf and hamstring muscles. Don’t over do at the start. You can combine jogging with walking and increase the time of jogging gradually. How long you jog is more important than how far or how fast. You need to cool down your body by finishing with a slow walk and some more exercises and stretching. Always remember that warm up and cool down exercises are as important as jogging and should be followed properly to avoid injuries. Having a jogging partner will keep you regular.
Don’t ignore any pain, weakness or breathlessness because neglecting it may lead to permanent injuries. Follow RICE for minor injury (rest, ice compression and elevation). Bandage ice bag on the injured area tightly and sit for thirty minutes by keeping the injured part a little elevated. Repeat it after 15minutes of rest. If the problem exists even after rest, then take a professional help. Don’t resume your jogging until you have healed. Incase you are having difficulty in breathing stop jogging immediately and consult your doctor instantly as it could be due to serious illness.
