Making your parents’ anniversary special

Celebrating one’s parent’s anniversary should never be taken casually. These are the two persons who have brought you into this world, cared for you since you were born, loved and cared for you till you were able to stand up on your own feet, gave you their name to advertise to the entire world, showered you with all that only parents can give to their children.

The first thing to consider is an appropriate card. A hand made one penned by their children will always score better than if you buy one from the local shop; remember this card will stay on for many more days than the anniversary date and will always remain a reminder of the love and affection with which you reciprocated. The more personal it is, so much the better.

A gift is a must. It need not be expensive but has to be appropriate. More important is something they like, something you know they always longed for but somehow did not get the opportunity to acquire.

The venues and menu also can either be an elaborate one or very homely and intimate. It all depends on your experience on what is their type of taste and obviously your financial capabilities.

An excellent idea is to sponsor a lunch or dinner for only the two of them in a cosy candle lit corner of a restaurant where they can share a few intimate moments together without any undesirable interferences. If there has to be some music then at least ensure it matches their generation, not yours! Organizing a trip to some exotic or yearned for location for the two would be a brilliant gesture.

What should make the anniversary very special for them would be if you can help them to celebrate their anniversary the way they want to do it. Remember that theirs is a relationship that began much before you were born – over the years some monotony must have crept in – rejuvenate this day for them, help to refresh this bond.

All said and done, let the celebration be such that after many many days or even years later, this event will remain fresh in their memories
