Medical Symptoms Not To Ignore
Each one of us may respond to a health problem in different ways. Some health problems go away by themselves within a few days but some symptoms may indicate that there is a probability of a serious health problem. Given below are some medical symptoms not to be ignored.
If you experience severe headache which is not controlled by over-the-counter painkillers then you must see your doctor. If headache is accompanied by fever and a stiff neck, it may indicate meningitis.
A sudden and severe headache than ever before could mean that there is bleeding in your brain. If unfamiliar headache occurs which is accompanied with vomiting and visual changes and persists for 3 or more days then it could indicate a blood clot.
If you have a chest pain which goes away with an antacid then there is less chance to be a symptom of heart attack. But if for no reason, you get a dull pressure-like chest pain then immediately call an ambulance.
Sometimes chest pain from a heart attack feels like a squeezing or pressure on your chest and other times you feel like a crushing sensation. You may feel pain in neck, arms, or jaws. You may also feel extreme weakness and faintness, vomiting, be short of breath or may break out in a cold sweat. These are signs of heart attack.
If you have slurred speech and/or weakness on one side of your body then it could indicate that you are having a stroke. Other signs are paralysis, burning pains, confusion, numbness, and weakness. Call the doctor immediately because stroke needs prompt treatment.
If abdominal pain occurs just before meal and vanishes after meal; it may signal ulcer. If you get pain when you eat; gastritis, pancreas or gallbladder problems may be indicated. Abdominal pain can also mean that you have an infection, cancer, gallstone, or problems with either aorta or blood vessels which nourishes the intestines.
If you feel depressed, sad or irritable or suicidal thoughts come into your mind; get it treated otherwise it can even be life-threatening. If you develop recurrent bruises in places that are not so prone to bumps; it could be due to blood clotting disorder.
Unexplained weight loss or loss of appetite, blood in urine not accompanied with pain, breathing problem and blood in stool are also signs which should not be ignored.
