Memory Loss During Pregnancy

Pregnancy brings a lot of happiness and joy to the expectant mother and her family. However, it also causes some problems such as weight gain, hair fall, mood swings, back pain, etc. Memory loss is one of the potential side effects of pregnancy.

Many women face memory problems during their pregnancy. They become absent minded and forgetful. Such kind of memory problem generally occurs during the first and third trimester. Though it is not a serious problem, it can be scary and frustrating at times. However, you should not worry too much because it is short term memory loss and you will be normal after delivery. If you worry about your memory loss it will cause stress, which may adversely affect your baby and cause miscarriage.

Try to live with your memory loss problem till childbirth. You can cope with memory problems by following the tips given below.

Note down important names and jobs to be done. People usually forget the names of persons whom they meet for the first time. Forgetting names may lead to embarrassment and business loss too. Hence while shaking hands repeat the name of the person you are meeting. It is better to note down the person’s name within 10 minutes. You may think that you would never forget that person’s name but soon you may realize that you have forgotten that name.

If your telephone bell rings and you find any stranger on the other side of the phone looking for your husband, note down his or her name so that you can tell your husband who had called him.

You should also make important notes about the work to be done. If you have to take any medicine on a fixed time, you may forget it and regret afterwards. Therefore, note down on some paper and place it where you can always see it. You can also fix alarm in your cell phone and add as task to be done in your mail.

If you have to do any important job but are afraid of forgetting it, keep your family members and well wishers informed about it so that they can remind you. If you manage your daily life properly there is nothing to worry about your memory loss during your pregnancy.

You should remember that memory loss during pregnancy is a common phenomenon and is temporary.
