Menopause-What Does It Mean

Menopause simply means that a woman is no longer fertile and has lost the ability to conceive or bear a child. Menopause arrival can be identified when you miss periods for months. It is a sign of menopause.

Most women dislike menopause period because it causes many emotional problems as well as physical problems. Menopause causes irritation, depression and mood swings. Women in menopause phase also experience anxiety, panic attacks episodes and abnormal heart beats.

During menopause, your oestrogen hormone is reduced which is responsible for all such problems. When oestrogen level decreases in any women she loses sex desire. That’s why many women experience loss of libido during menopause.

Women also experience vaginal dryness during menopause which is also due to low level of estrogen hormone. Due to this they also experience pain during intercourse. Skin is also affected during menopause and it becomes dry. Skin colour also appears to be dull and different types of stains start appearing on it in many women. This happens because skin loses its moisture.

Many women also experience hair loss during menopause. Weight gain is one of the most common affect seen in women going through menopause phase. Due to reduced level of estrogen women gain weight and become obese.

Low estrogen also causes muscle pain and body aches. One of the biggest problems caused due to menopause is osteoporosis. Due to estrogen deficiency, their bones become too weak and are prone to fracture on minor injury. If proper care is not taken, it can lead to osteoporosis.

Urge to urinate and hot flashes become frequent during menopause. Women usually attain menopause at the age of 40 or above. However it is not necessary that all women will face same problems and will enter into menopause phase at the same age. It varies from individual to individual. Women who are already weak may have to face more problems in comparison to women who are healthy and remain fit.

Though menopause is not a pleasant word for women, you could live happily even during menopause by combating all these problems through healthy lifestyle. You can control weight by doing exercise regularly. Exercise will balance your hormones and prevent hair loss also. Exercise will give strength to your bones and will prevent bone loss. Apart from exercise, you must eat healthy diet. You should eat foods rich in all vital nutrients needed for your body.
