Menstrual Cramps: How To Deal With It

Many women who have periods suffer from the menstrual cramps at some or the other point in their life. For some women the periods come and go like normal where they do not have a single problem but for some women the list of problems goes on like cramps, heavy bleeding, backaches, fatigue, migraine, sore breasts etc.

All these problems are connected with the hard contraction of muscles around uterus. The pain caused due to all these problems can be low or mild, moderate or sometimes too high. You may feel the cramps during the period around the abdomen, in the back and even in the legs.If you take certain necessary steps then dealing with menstrual cramps is not a rocket science. Everyone can take care of themselves to get rid of these cramps if not completely then at least partially.

These steps are: maintain a healthy diet not only during your periods but also in normal life. You should include fresh fruits and vegetables in your diet plan. Remove all kind of junk foods and calorie increasing foods which are not good for the health. Avoid smoking, drinking and caffeine included items at least before and during your periods.

You should try doing some gentle exercises during the menstrual cycle to get relief from cramps. If not exercises then at least walking will do. So indulge yourself in some physical activities to reduce pain. Also you should continue with exercises not only during periods but also on the other days in order to keep yourself physically and mentally fit, slim, trim and energetic.

If the severity of cramps is more then it is advisable to use heating pads. If you do not have these pads then you can pour hot water into a glass or plastic bottle and use them as pads for abdomen and stomach pain. Also, having aromatherapy massages and warm water bath will make you feel fresh and lower the pain.

Some women do not prefer standing while in periods rather they find comfort in laying face down on bed on their knees raising their hips up in the air while keeping the head on the pillow. Also, distract yourself from pain by avoiding stress and involving in meditation, massages etc.
