Microdermabrasion And Its Uses

Microdermabrasion

Microdermabrasion The skin has special mechanisms for healing wounds fast in order to prevent blood loss and protect the body from infection. Scars are marks that are left on the skin from a quickly formed “collagen glue” that the body lay down into a wounded region for shielding it from the invasion or microorganism which can lead to infection.

Microdermabrasion is an array of cosmetic procedures in which the dead outermost surface of the epidermis also known as stratum corneum is partially or completely removed by light abrasion, for the removal of the scars and reduction of dark spots on the skin. Generally two types of microdermation techniques are common for medical use to remove scars and lightening of skin tone.

Crystal Microdermabrasion

This technique uses a machine which acts as a vacuum to exfoliate the skin and get rid of the grime, flakes and scales on the skin. The machine then releases tiny crystals of aluminum oxide or sodium bicarbonate (baking soda) onto the face.

Crystal Microdermabrasion

These crystals work to break up the dead skin cells that have accumulated on the surface of the skin. Once the dead skin is broken loose by this crystal, the same is used for sucking of the crystals along with the dead skin. This treatment is used for treatment of wrinkles and fine lines along with reduction of acne marks. This treatment can also be considered to even the skin tone and scar removal.

Diamond Microdermabrasion

This machine works in a similar fashion as crystal microdermation for exfoliating the skin Diamond microdermation machine comes along with a natural or synthetically made tip comprising of numerous tiny diamond particles. The number of particles vary for its usage on different types of skin. The  tips when comes in contact with the skin causes abrasion, and pulls out the top most dead layer of the skin followed by suction of the loose dead skin on the face.

An advantage of diamond crystal free microdermabrasion is presence of a cotton filter along the machine which helps you to make out a clear cut amount of the dead skin being removed. This procedure can also be used for the treating stretch marks and deeper acne marks.
Both the above mentioned process relies on the working principle of creating suction. The suction pressure developed has the added benefit of stimulating collagen and elastin along with stimulating the lymph node and helps in increasing blood flow to the skin. The increased blood flow helps skin to restore itself faster.
