Nail Care Tips

Because of the hustle and bustle of day to day activities we constantly risk the health and strength of our nails. Take a few minutes each day to look after them. The health of your nail reflects the general health of the body.

Some tips for nail care-

1. Don’t cut your nails, instead file them down. This will strengthen them and help in growing them.

2. Don’t bite your nails and don’t remove cuticles.

3. Drink lots of water. Keep them hydrated. It will keep them healthy. Lack of fluid can cause cracks and cuts in your nails.

4. Add vitamin A, vitamin C, calcium, folic acid, protein, vitamin B-12 and zinc in your diet. You must consult your doctor. Lack of these vitamins will cause dryness and brittleness.

5. You should not use nails like tools. This means no digging or picking, scratching or to open pop cans. It causes breakage.

6. Touch up your manicure on daily basis. You should always wear rubber gloves when you are in contact with harsh detergents or chemicals.

7. Keep your toe nails short and make sure your shoes fit properly.

8. Include lots of fruits and vegetables in your diet. Eat lots of onions, fish and broccoli as they are full of silicon.

9. Avoid nail fungus by washing your manicure tools with anti bacterial soap. Incase that you find any problem you must see a doctor.

10. Apply lots of moisturizer and sunscreen lotion after swimming or moving around in the sun. Don’t use lotion that contains alcohol especially if your nails are brittle. While watching T.V you can massage your hands, this will not only soften them but also give you the benefits of acupressure.

11. Maintain regular gaps between applying nail polish.

Nail care is often overlooked a little. Time spent in nail care on a regular basis can reflect a huge difference in your over all appearance.
